It is my long time wish come true.... by joining FAIMER. Dr Ciraj (Director, MUFIILIPE) is a good friend of mine and we had several discussions about FAIMER and he motiviated me to apply for this year. With his consistent encouragement, this year I have selected as one of the FAIMER fellows of MUFIILIPE 2016 (http://mu.faimerfri.org/). FAIMER is an interprofessional fellowship, which ultimately makes every individual to be a leader and perfect interprofesional team member for a noble cause to server the betterment of the community. From 2nd May to 9th May, 2016, a eight days residential course brought me lot of changes in my personal as well as academic life. Excellent curriculum, experienced faculties (best human beings), pleasant and ego free environment provides me a memorable movement in my life. I am in the research field from 1996. We are well trained to write research projects, delivering oral talks and poster presentations. On a sudden moment, FAIMER put me a situation that what I learnt so far is entirely nothing and it gives me an different perspective to go through the project writing, presenting the facts in a order so that our ideas will reach to the common people. It also provides me an opportunity to realize the importance of planning, and accomplish the projects within deadline. Do you ever sit with interprofessionals (Humanity, Science, Architecture, Medical professionals, NGOs, policy makers, politicians,...) and think about India's common problems and achievements? Yes, I had a chance to carry out that experiment. On 9th May, MUFIILIPE has organized a National Consultation on Interprofessional Education and Interprofessional Practice. I am in the team with Dr. Gayathri (http://manipal.edu/mu/academics/centers-of-excellence/mcph/department-faculty/faculty-list/gayathri-prabhu.html), Professor Amith (Architecture, Manipal University), Dr Arathi Rao (http://manipal.edu/doph/department-faculty/faculty-list/p-arathi-rao1.html) , Dr Rajani George (AJ Institute of Dental Sciences, Mangalore). Great personalities ... Do you know? It is a common misconception that it is difficult to arrive consensus if you have different ideologies, and different background personalities in a panel. But when we have a common goal [in John's terminology (http://www.cihc.ca/about/steering_committee) its meant patient....Thanks John for the wonderful explanation)] and we need to bring some fruitful results within short time. Yes it is possible, if we forget our portfolios, learn to work together, respect each others ideas, and use others expertise to solve the problems. Believe me, we have identified India's most successful stories, learnt the lessons from those stories and then build a curriculum to involve the community and younger generation to carry out those success to next generation. It all happens less than four hours. Lot to share, for example about my project team (Thanks to Dr. Murali, Dr. Rajani, Dr. Mamatha, Dr. Suvetha, Dr. Jim). I think in the entire MUFIILIPE 2016, our team is most cool one, enjoyed, enjoyed, enjoyed.....Dr Suvetha is an amazing field worker with full of practical guidelines and suggestions to work among the communities. She put lot of efforts in our team members and end of the four day, our projects are completely new compared to what we proposed earlier. But more practical, achievable, with clear road maps. Thanks to Drs Suvetha and Jim. During this 8 days, I come across different amazing personalities like Dr William (http://www.faimer.org/about-staff.html) , Dr Ciraj (Director, MUFIILIPE), around 20 faculties (http://mu.faimerfri.org/faculty) and other special invites. In the mean time, we have planned to welcome our seniors MUFIILIPE 2015 team members and cultural programmes. What an amazing talents. With in short time, Arun wrote a song (MUFIILIPE anthem), Avinash composed a music, John sketched an action retreat, Elsa played a tricky dance...Mary taught and organized a show....lists very big. You may wonder, where am I know? Last row .... behind the scenes... escaping from all responsibilities... you got it. Last day the cultural programme was awesome, it is joint venture of MUFIILIPE family members. What I learned from this 8 big days? Perfection, Planning, Placement, Project time management, Proper execution, Personalities, at last this is for all one common goal PATIENT. Just started now....next two years action plans are ready and waiting in queue to carry out ... ML_web learning (11 months), project plans, questionnaire preparation, finding support for my projects, academic and social emails, managing my interprofessional experts, next residential sessions, ... I think enough for now. Let me continue some other time.
